Membership in the IWAI is open to all international women of Izmir. The IWAI's mission is to actively support those women who are new to Izmir, assisting them in their transition to a new city through practical advice, friendship and integration into the local and International Community. Our Association is also committed to fundraising for local charities enabling members to become involved with the local community.

Membership fees

Yearly: 50 YTL (Membership runs January to December)

Joining from July 1st: 35 YTL

 

How to join

 

Simply come along to one of our monthly coffee mornings or dinners* or visit the Punto Print Shop (Address: 1385 Sokak, No: 3, Zemin 3,Cankaya, 35210)

*Please refer to the IWAI Agenda on the home page for dates and times. Venues are voluntarily not published on the website and are communicated via the IWAI Yahoo! Group email.

 

What you will need to join

• 2 passport photos (for your IWAI membership card)
  
• the fees (pro-rata if you join after July 1st)
  
• the filled in membership form (download the IWAI membership form ) alternatively bring your passport pictures with you to one of our dinners or coffee mornings and ask one of our board members for the membership form.
  

N.B. As of January 2007, only complete membership applications will be accepted (i.e 2 passport pictures, duly completed membership form and membership fees will have to de submitted together)

How to join the IWAI Yahoo! Group

The IWAI Yahoo! Group is a forum meant for IWAI members to share information in a secure way. Joining this group is an essential part of being a full member of the IWAI because it enables you to communicate with the other members and receive notifications about activities and events.

It is IWAI policy to allow women who want to join the IWAI to first join the IWAI Yahoo! Group for a period of two months. After this period, women who have not become IWAI members (or not renewed membership) are removed from the IWAI Yahoo! Group.

Joining the IWAI Yahoo! Group is subject to moderation and is open to women only.

Go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/iwai/

Click on the Join this Group! button (on the right side)

Are you already a Yahoo member? Fill in your Yahoo ID and password there and click "Sign In". Please also check if your name is filled in your profile. Your status will be pending until one of the moderators approves your membership

Are you new to Yahoo: click the "Sign up"-link at the right bottom of the grey square.

You can now fill the information to get an account with Yahoo!. If you are in this profile section, please also fill the other details like your name, so we can see who the ID belongs to!

We advise you not to create a yahoo email address if you already have an email address somewhere else.

Fill the email address you are using in the field "alternate email" and complete the form. Click on "I accept" and move to the next page. If you made any mistakes you will be asked to change it and submit the changes with the "submit" button below.

You now get to a page that you can print for your own information and you will be asked to activate your account by confirming the email you will receive (take a look in your spam folder if you have not received this mail).

Click "Continue to Yahoo Groups" at the right bottom side of the page. You will receive an email from Yahoo!. Click on the link in that mail to confirm your email address. If you get a message that you are not a member yet, go again to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/iwai/ and click "Join this Group!". Follow the instructions. After you finished, your subscription will be approved and you will get access to all the information at the site. To go there click again: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/iwai/

Frequently asked questions

What does IWAI Membership cover?
The IWAI is a non-profit association. Yearly membership fees cover administration costs, discounts at coffee morning and dinners, discounts in selected shops.

I want to join the IWAI but will be leaving in the middle of the year. Do I still have to pay full year membership fees?
Membership runs from January to December each year. Every member is required to pay full membership for the following year.

I recently arrived in Izmir and would like to join the IWAI before January next year. Is this possible?
Yes, you may join IWAI mid-year, but your membership will only last until the end of the current year. If you join IWAI after July 1st, you will be asked to pay 35 YTL for membership until December 31st.

Is joining the Yahoo Group like joining the IWAI?
No, it is not.

What happens if I do not join the Yahoo Group? You will not receive any mails with up to date information on events from IWAI.

What can we do with this Yahoo group?
-Send emails to all our members at once - Keep a calendar and receive automatic notifications of events
- Share files, pictures and links with each other
- Ask all our members to vote in polls and automatically calculate the results of those polls
- Keep track of all active and inactive members.

I do not want a Yahoo! email address, can I still join the Yahoo Group?
You can set up an account at Yahoo without taking a Yahoo email address. At the moment you are setting up an account with Yahoo you are asked if you would like to have a Yahoo email address. Just unselect the option to have a Yahoo address and you will not have one. You still should check which address you register in the profile for the IWAI Group because they might register the Yahoo address anyway by default;

I successfully joined the IWAI Yahoo Group but I am not receiving any emails.
If you can log into the site of the IWAI Group but still I do not receive any emails you probably have an email account with Yahoo including an email address (like yahooID@yahoo.com). When you joined the IWAI Group you selected that the emails will be sent to your yahoo address. So you should be able to read your IWAI emails in the inbox from your Yahoo account. To change this, go to the IWAI Group site (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/iwai/) and click "Members". Find your own name there and click your Yahoo ID. You now see an overview of your profile information, (only available to the other members of the IWAI Group). Click "Edit Profile Information" in the middle over the list. There, under Email Address you can choose between using you Yahoo address or another one. Choose the one you would like to use. You can even add a different email address by clicking "change" and then "Edit" in the Member Information section. I successfully joined the IWAI Yahoo Group but I cannot log into the site. I received an email saying I joined but I cannot login. You are a member of the IWAI Yahoo Group but you don not have a Yahoo ID. If you would like to enter the site, please let me know. I will send you an email through Yahoo that will show you how to set up an account and a profile.
